What would you do if you had a chance to go to bed with your favorite super model, only to find out that when you got her there she had a club foot and a mole the size of a Hersey’s Kiss on her ass. It would kind of ruin the entire experience wouldn’t it. Over time there have been a few cars out there that have done just this to consumers. My personal favorite is one that we all know and love. In 1985 it took us back to the future and was just as much a part of the 1980’s as parachute pants and Madonna. I speak of course of the DeLorean, a car that looked like a million bucks, but performed like a bent nickel. The DeLorean came to the United States with a crappy little Renault derived V6 that pumped out 138 hp and 161 lb-ft of torque. That meant 0-60 times of over 10 seconds with 1/4 runs of around 20 seconds. I mean my God, talk about slow!

The other thing was that mechanically the cars were just crap. The interiors were sub-par with faulty electronics, lousy materials and shoddy workmanship. Combine that with the $25,000 price tag in 1981 dollars and you’re talking about a car company that pulled the ultimate bait and switch on consumers. Over the years there have been there cars that were also perfumed pigs, but in my opinion, there was no bigger hog out there then the DeLorean DMC-12.
